Luis' philosophy1. What is social justice?
Social justice is a title given to a specific group of people that take justice in their own hands, but do it as a unit, meaning people stay together. Social Justice is when you are united with other people that are seeking the same justice they all deserve and wan't. Social justice isn't just a school or a simple action of doing something for someone, but the significance of showing what other schools can't do around the world or the will to fight for the better, the truth of what goes on around the world, and to rise above when justice is not pursued or served. Justice is being rightfulness, fair, and being righteous. 2. What obstacles do we face while struggling to achieve social justice? Obstacles that I and many of my peers within my school have faced is the threat of fear, but like bad threats of other people, but the threat of not being able to help their teachers, classes, school , and even themselves. I myself wasn't able to be part of an event to help my teachers and classes back, because my grades and future education was endanger to affect. Others took the risk and went on the fight for what was fair and justice, but many have to fight the threats and obstacles to overcome the struggles and achieve what is the right to everyone and everything. 3. What is your vision for struggle? The vision I have always had is when ever there is someone or something treated unfairly or even done without a fair judgement, I wan't to be able to never turn my back and walk away, but to stand up and fight for what it's right. No matter how big the struggles or obstacles, we as the people must never give up and fight our fears to give us hope, peace, and a chance to live for something. 4. What is your role in the struggle? My role in the struggle is being since I've entered and applied for Social Justice itself, I in the future will love to become a police officer and go beyond the pursuit of justice, and actually take the responsibility for enforcing the laws the right way and make sure everyone is giving a proper trial and is innocent until proven guilty. My fire has always been in many sparks of my life, but will soon rise to a dashing flames of fury that one day will achieve the equality we as a whole world deserve. 5. How is your chosen issue connected to social justice? My topic or issue that will be presented is child soldiers and how the affects of youth being the victims of war or something no child should ever experience in their lives. Child soldiers is connected to social justice , because this is the young we are talking about the next group of young people that will determine the faith of the future and responsibilities that will depend on them! |
Denise's philosophyI believe that social justice is a form of justice that needs to be done to solve our issues that happens in society that affects us all individually. In my freshmen year I didn't had an idea what social justice was; all I thought was that social justice had something to do with strikes, but my teachers and peers helped me develop my understanding of what social justice means in my perspective. My African Latino history class constantly teaches us about our own history and how our own ancestors fought and struggled for social justice. Our ancestors resisted oppressors’ abuses but once they had enough they did everything they can to run away and rebel. The revolution that was caused helped them achieved freedom and rights.
The obstacle we face usually starts off with ourselves being scared and finding the courage to speak up. I believe that speaking up for something that we believe is wrong is the biggest step, but the hardest to do. The main obstacles when it comes to struggling and achieving social justice have to deal with oppressors. Oppressors are usually the ones with the control and that don’t want to make a change since it won’t benefit them. The perfect example would be when the Spanish had control of New Spain, the natives and Africans didn’t had rights and were being overworked and abused by the Spanish for many years. Yanga who was an African slave spoke up and caused a revolution against the Spanish. This revolution caused the independence of Mexico and freed natives and Africans. The revolution also abolished slavery and segregation. My issue is child soldiers and it’s connected to social justice. The reason why its connected to social justice is because its an issue that affects us all and manly the next generation. Child soldiers are linked with other issues like poverty, government corruption, and unequal rights for education. Children’s rights are being abused and being put into situations in where their childhood dies by serving military/violent groups. This is a cruel problem that affects society globally since there are child soldiers across the globe. This also affects us nationally and locally, but people don’t speak up about it. Children that are in gangs are also child soldiers that are killing their childhood and risking their lives to serve a violent group. Society tends to judge these children instead offering them help and don’t realize that society is oppressing these children by giving them low expectations that can later develop into psychological problems. |
